Random stuff...

I just realised that i spend a great deal of time thinking, often staring at one of 3 objects on my table whilst doing so - either the flower on the left, the calender picture, or the smily ball. Day before yesterday, i was just wondering, why people calculate the percentage of the exams that they need to pass? is it for security reasons or to make themselves feel better? Personally i don't see the point in calculating the percentage, cuz i just want to try my hardest and give it my best shot. I agree, it is a tad comforting to know that u may prob only need about 35% on the exam to pass the subject, but i still like knowing that i gave it my best shot.

For me, statistics give me comfort.

...interesting I've just come to a realization I need to be seeking more comfort in God. wow Thanks!

But just cause I like to calculate percentages doesn't mean I won't try to do my best in an exam.

I like feedback and I like to know how well I'm doing. I would compare this to a Final Boss Battle in a game. You're up against this giant thing, as a player it's more frustrating to not know the health of the enemy boss and how many hits you need left to finish him off, compared to knowing that you just need to hit him an X number of times. With or without a health bar in the GUI (feedback) as a persistent player, I would give it my best shot, even if there was a lack of good game design.

In terms of exams, it's not all about giving it your best shot. You can give it your best shot, but if you haven't come out of that exam a better person than when you went in, the exam is sorta pointless.

What I am trying to say is that learning doesn't just happen before an exam, it happens through one as well, for me anyway. It's the ability to cope with stress and anxiety, to test your patience.

Fruits of the Spirit: Patience +1!

(I should totally design an epic christian game)

Yeah, i calculate my percentages for comfort, but also to set a goal.

And SAM design an epic game based on epic youth, and have NPCs like Tim Tam, and Gabriel the new guy, and Dan Lian the pastor. Make it like a reality based game, so you can do anything you want, but make it so that non christians playing the game can accidentally stumble upon questions and answers to life.

hi rach,

i noe what u mean.....i never calcualted the percentage in the past (just do the best) but dis year LOL i saw isaac and EVERYONE do it so i tried it out...

yeh it does giv me quite the comfort knowing if im sure to pass or get some mark......but i think dats bad.....the mark's irrelevent ---givs u a benchmark----and i don't lik benchmarks/limits......

just do ur best whether ur gonna fail or get HD...if u get 100%....u better hav killed it wif ease to be 100% proud ;D.....vice versa...

so yeh......

IN CONCLUSION:D reaction to dat self-calculated percentage should be the same either way.....
